7 Best Fig Trees To Grow In Vancouver

My knowledge is that I know of only one tree in the neighborhood that produces brown turkey figs. Except for the two I plucked, all the figs in that tree were still immature and green Wednesday-a week or so away from ripeness, like the rest of the figs on the other trees in Fairview that I know about.

I found fig trees in Fairview that are perpetually green-skinned, except for the turkey figs on Heather and West 17th, which start green and turn brown as they ripen. The fruit appears to be Italian honey figs (Ficus carica ‘Lattarula’).

More than anything else, the sweet brown turkey figs that I ate on Wednesday made my mouth water for the luxurious taste to come of the fully mature figs that I imagine to represent the sum total of all the days of spring and summer that went into making them.
