A home specimen can support appreciation and education, but it is not a substitute for protecting remnant dry forest and maintaining appropriately sourced conservation populations.

For restoration, work within the project’s guidance on provenance, genetic material, and monitoring. A tree that grows well in a garden may still be inappropriate for a particular wild locality. The purpose of the planting should determine the sourcing standard, not simply availability.
