This is a "starter" list of native plants for South and West Texas. It is intended for residential or commercial landscapers who want to create attractive and varied native landscapes. The region runs from the Edwards Plateau and Hill Country through the South Texas brush country and Rio Grande Valley to the Trans-Pecos mountains and the Chihuahuan Desert, so check each plant’s profile for where it is native and choose plants suited to your own rainfall, soil and elevation.
